12:45pm-1:45pm: Live recording of Dear White Women Podcast
Dear White Women is a weekly social justice podcast run by co-hosts Sara & Misasha, two Harvard grads who are raising very mixed race children in the United States. Episodes touch on things you might not have considered on race, identity, history, current events, and more -- all through the lens of humanity, and the idea that we rise by lifting others. Register to attend a live podcast at 12:45 pm, with 100 audience seats available for a $10 fee at womxnsmarchdenver.org. This session will take a different look at sexual assault, starting from the inception (and original motivations) of the #metoo movement and focusing in on our assumptions about the singular narrative of assault. When we put women before whiteness, we can truly harness the power of our collective outrage to push for justice for all. Register here.
11 a.m - 3 p.m.: Livestream interviews of non-profit and grassroots organizations taking place all day. Visit @WomxnsMarchDenver on Facebook and Instagram and @womxnsmarchDVR on Twitter.

EVENT SAFETY TIPS
PERSONAL TIPS FOR BEFORE THE EVENT AND WHEN YOU ARRIVE:
IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING.
- Dress warmly and in layers. Temperatures can change rapidly when you are moving or standing in a crowd.
- Have your cell phone fully charged but also have an emergency contact memorized or written down in the event your battery is dead or cell service is not available.
- Have snacks, water and any medications you take regularly in the event you cannot get home as quickly as planned.
- Bring identification and have emergency cash on your person.
- Do not carry a large backpack or bag and never leave any bag or personal items unattended.
- Drones are not allowed at the March. They will be confiscated by law enforcement and the owner will be cited.
- Always have an emergency plan and communicate that with friends ahead of time.
- Know what you will do in the event of an emergency (know the closest exit, identify a safe location to move to if warranted, identify a meet-up location with family/friends).
- Take note of where law enforcement and Peacekeepers (wearing security vests) are posted.
- If you see anything suspicious, bring it to the attention of a law enforcement officer or Womxn’s March Peacekeeper (they will be wearing yellow safety vest and are posted all along the route and in the park).
- You may encounter individuals who disagree with our beliefs. Remain calm and do not engage with them. Stay alert and bring the disruptive behavior to the attention of Peacekeepers.
- Remain calm and mindful.
- Take cover and listen for any direction from organizers or law enforcement.
- If necessary, put your emergency plan into action and calmly exit the area to a safe location.
IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING.

About the Impact Expo:
As a 501(c)3 Non-Profit organization, we are prohibited from endorsing any candidate for public office. Therefore, we will not accept applications for a booth at the IMPACT EXPO, taking place at McNichols Civic Center Building, from individuals whose purpose is campaigning for political office. The purpose of the IMPACT EXPO is to highlight the work of nonprofits and grassroots organizations who are serving the community at large. While we recognize the act of running for office is a service to our community and we support more womxn running for public office, we cannot select or endorse any specific candidates. As a way to remain transparent and equitable in our stance, we will not be allowing anyone who is running for office a booth space unless they meet the selection criteria we have established for booths, independent of their campaign duties.
Why is there an Impact Expo? When is the rally?
Womxn’s March Denver is excited to share our vision for 2020! We begin this year by marching into ACTION within our own community and then we shift our focus to the importance and IMPACT of our vote as we approach the November election. In line with these goals, we have made some exciting changes to the program for January and added a “Our Vote is Our Voice” rally in August (more information to come).
This January we march in solidarity, in support of our shared values. We are excited to announce that at the conclusion of this year’s march, in place of a rally, we will be hosting an Impact Expo in the McNichols Building (right in Civic Center Park) that will feature nonprofit and grassroots organizations doing the work right here in our Mile High communities. We hope to connect marchers who “want to do something” with those organizations who need the support to get things done.
So come and connect! March with us and then stop by the McNichols Civic Center Building afterward (and get warm) on January 18, 2020 to get connected and be part of the change. Take ACTION and make an IMPACT!
A note to elected officials and candidates:
We encourage all politicians that are currently serving and/or running for office that share the values and vision of the Womxn’s March Denver (see https://www.womxnsmarchdenver.org/our-mission.html) to come out and march with us on Saturday January 18, 2020. In place of a rally at our January March, we will be hosting an IMPACT EXPO in the McNichols Building (located in Civic Center Park) that will feature nonprofit and grassroots organizations doing the work right here in our Mile High communities. We will not be hosting a stage this year, which means there will be no formal speaking opportunities nor formal manner to recognize our public servants and those running for office at this year’s March. There may be future opportunities at Our Vote is Our Voice, Let’s Get Loud! Rally, tentatively scheduled for August 2020.
So come down with your team and march and connect with the community! Then stop by the IMPACT EXPO at McNichols Civic Center Building* afterward (and get warm) on January 18, 2020 at 10:30am to get connected and be part of the change. Take ACTION and make an IMPACT!
*Please note that while we welcome everyone to the IMPACT EXPO, soliciting signatures for political campaigns and distribution of campaign materials is not permitted on McNichols property (inside or out), per our partnership agreement with Denver Arts and Venues,/McNichols Building. Thank you for your understanding with regard to this matter.
